UNFCCC CAPACITY Fellowship Programme 2025 – Fully Funded Opportunity

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) invites applications for the 2025 CAPACITY Fellowship Programme a prestigious, fully funded initiative for early- to mid-career climate professionals.

This one-year placement provides a unique opportunity to work directly with the UNFCCC Secretariat in Bonn, Germany, build global networks, and deepen your knowledge of climate policy, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, carbon markets, and capacity-building mechanisms.

About the Fellowship

The CAPACITY Fellowship Programme is designed to strengthen the capacity of countries that are most vulnerable to climate change, specifically:

  • Small Island Developing States (SIDS)

  • Least Developed Countries (LDCs)

Selected fellows will be placed with UNFCCC departments relevant to their expertise and national priorities. During the one-year program, fellows will contribute to the work of the secretariat while gaining hands-on experience and in-depth training in climate negotiation and implementation processes.

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible if you:

  • Are a national of a SIDS or LDC country

  • Currently work in a government institution, public agency, or academic organization

  • Have professional experience in climate change, climate policy, carbon markets, or related environmental fields

  • Have a strong interest in contributing to international climate processes
