Pay: ₦1,200,000 – ₦1,500,000 total (paid monthly, based on expertise)

About the Role:
Surge Africa is hiring a detail-oriented and self-driven Research Associate for a 6-month remote contract. You will deliver 20 comprehensive research reports and 5 fact sheets on climate finance, energy transition, resilience, and governance. Your work will directly inform policy and practice across the continent.

• Renewable energy and just transitions

• Ecosystem resilience and adaptation

• Governance, transparency, and citizen engagement

• Gender, inclusion, innovation, and digital tools

Responsibilities:

• Produce 20 detailed research reports (≥10 pages) with data visuals and recommendations

• Draft 5 concise fact sheets (2–3 pages) with key stats and calls to action

• Conduct interviews, literature reviews, and data analysis

• Visualize findings using tables, charts, and infographics

• Collaborate with senior researchers and ensure high editorial quality

• Meet weekly deadlines and report progress regularly

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Climate Policy, Energy, Environment, or related field

• Minimum 2 years’ research experience in NGOs, academia, or think tanks

• Proven technical writing and data visualization skills

• Excellent time management and attention to detail

• Familiarity with African (especially Nigerian) climate/energy policy is a plus

• Basic graphic design skills (preferred)
