The Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DRDI), a non-profit dedicated to promoting peacebuilding and good governance in Nigeria, is looking for a dynamic and skilled Communication and IT Officer to join their team in Kano. This is a versatile role for a proactive individual who can enhance DRDI’s public presence while ensuring the smooth operation of its internal systems.

Position Details

Position: Communication and IT Officer
Location: Kano, Nigeria
Duration: 8 months, with the potential for renewal based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

This role is a dual function, covering both communications and information technology.

Communication:

Develop and implement strategies to boost DRDI’s visibility and impact.
Manage social media platforms, creating engaging and informative content.
Draft and design newsletters, press releases, reports, and other promotional materials.
Support media engagement and public awareness campaigns.
Ensure all internal and external materials adhere to DRDI’s branding guidelines.

Information Technology (IT):

Provide first-level technical support, quickly troubleshooting hardware and software issues for staff.
Maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including internet connectivity and digital assets.
Support the setup of virtual meetings, webinars, and other online collaboration tools.
Implement data security measures and manage regular data backups and software updates.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Mass Communication, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably within an NGO or the development sector.
Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Fluency in Hausa is an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Illustrator), Microsoft Office Suite, and strong knowledge of IT systems and troubleshooting.
Attributes: The ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet timely deadlines.
