Save the Children (SCI) is looking for a dedicated and highly skilled MEAL Officer to join their team in Katsina. This role is central to ensuring that programs for children are delivered with the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and measurable impact.

 Role Overview

  • Position: MEAL Officer (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning)

  • Location: Katsina

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in MEAL (Humanitarian/Development sector)

  • Sector: Child Protection, Health, and International Development

 Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • System Design: Develop robust MEAL plans and tools in line with SCI and donor requirements.

  • Data Management: Lead data collection and conduct in-depth analysis to derive actionable insights.

  • Systems Reporting: Maintain and update the PRIME (Project reporting Information Management & Evidence) system logframe monthly.

  • Quality Assurance: Execute quarterly monitoring and Data Quality Assessments (DQA) using defined quality benchmarks.

Accountability & Participation

  • Three Pillars: Implement accountability through Information Sharing, Participation, and Feedback & Reporting.

  • Community Engagement: Establish mechanisms to ensure project participants’ voices influence project design and adaptation.

  • Transparency: Conduct periodic stakeholder meetings to maintain community trust.

Learning & Safeguarding

  • Knowledge Management: Facilitate learning discussions, archive project documents, and develop success stories/case studies.

  • Child Safeguarding: Conduct rigorous risk assessments before any data collection activities involving children.

 Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: At least 3 years of MEAL experience; specific experience in Health or Child Protection is a significant advantage.

  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical data effectively and persuasively.

  • Values: Deep commitment to rights-based approaches and children’s participation.

  • Language: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
