 Project Assistant (Research) – Peace & Security Thesis

A postgraduate student currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies & Conflict Resolution is seeking a dedicated Project Assistant to support a critical research project titled: “Banditry and Insecurity in Northern Nigeria: Implications for Sustainable Peace.”

This short-term engagement offers a unique opportunity for early-career researchers to gain hands-on experience in conflict analysis, qualitative data collection, and peacebuilding research within the Nigerian context.

 Role Overview

  • Position: Project Assistant (Research)

  • Duration: 3 Months

  • Allowance: ₦100,000 monthly

  • Location: North-West Nigeria (Remote work/desk-based options available)

 Key Responsibilities

  • Field Data Collection: Conduct interviews and focus group discussions with relevant stakeholders where required.

  • Literature Review: Assist in identifying, reviewing, and documenting academic and policy-based literature on banditry and Northern Nigerian security.

  • Qualitative Analysis: Help with the transcription and thematic organization of interview data and field notes.

  • General Support: Provide administrative and research assistance to ensure the project meets its academic milestones.

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: BSc or Master’s degree in Political Science, Peace & Conflict Studies, International Relations, Sociology, or Security Studies.

  • Research Skills: Strong ability to collect data, take detailed field notes, and support qualitative research.

  • Regional Context: Familiarity with the security dynamics of Northern Nigeria is a significant advantage.

  • Communication: Excellent writing and organizational skills are essential for documenting findings.
