M&E Officer – Malaria Consortium

Malaria Consortium is recruiting a highly technical M&E Officer to support the Global Fund Malaria project in Kano State. This role is central to ensuring data integrity, tracking project performance, and managing the digital systems that drive malaria control efforts in Northern Nigeria.

Role Overview

Position: M&E Officer
Location: Kano, Nigeria
Reporting To: State Project Manager
Project: Global Fund Malaria Project

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical M&E & Data Management (50%)

Database Leadership: Set up and maintain project databases with direct linkage to the national DHIS2 platform.
Data Quality: Conduct regular Data Quality Assessments (DQA) to ensure the completeness and validity of routine malaria indicators.
Reporting: Lead the submission of the quarterly Programmatic Progress Update and Disbursement Request (PUDR).
Micro-planning: Develop detailed M&E work plans and checklists for supervisory visits and drug distribution tracking.

2. Knowledge Management & Learning (20%)

Learning Agenda: Organize “learning-to-action” sessions to analyze data for programmatic improvements.
Documentation: Develop learning briefs and project bulletins to share best practices with the Malaria Consortium country office and government partners.

3. Program Management & Accountability (20%)

Coordination: Support the State Ministry of Health (SMoH) in closing gaps identified during supervisory visits.
Beneficiary Feedback: Implement feedback channels to ensure community voices are documented and utilized in program design.

4. Representation (10%)

Technical Lead: Represent the organization at technical meetings and quarterly review sessions with Principal Recipients (PRs) and Sub-recipients (SRs).

Person Specification

Essential:

Education: Degree in Statistics, Demography, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Experience: 3–5 years in a similar M&E role, ideally with community-based interventions.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level use of DHIS2, Stata, SPSS, or Epi Info.
Experience: Proven track record in survey design, implementation, and technical report writing.

Desirable:

Familiarity with the Nigerian public health system and Global Fund (GFATM) protocols.
Previous experience with USAID/PMI or DFID funded projects.
Strong skills in qualitative research and facilitation.
