Project Overview: Pro-IEVTiN

The Promoting inclusive Education and Vocational Training in Nigeria (Pro-IEVTiN) project, in collaboration with CBM International, aims to uplift marginalized groups—specifically persons with disabilities and women—through high-quality vocational training, sustainable income-generating activities, and strengthened protection mechanisms.

Role Summary

The Senior Program Officer (Livelihoods) will be the project focal point in the Biu Field Office. You will lead the implementation of livelihood activities while simultaneously overseeing the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Disability-Based Violence (DBV).

Key Responsibilities

1. Livelihoods & Technical Oversight

  • VESA Management: Establish and train Village Economic and Social Associations (VESAs) to foster community-led savings and loans.

  • Vocational Training: Lead inclusive vocational programs, ensuring facilities are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

  • Economic Empowerment: Provide training in financial literacy, business development, and sustainable entrepreneurship.

2. Protection & Safeguarding

  • Mainstreaming: Ensure beneficiary dignity and safety are integrated into all activities.

  • Referral Pathways: Identify and refer cases of GBV/DBV and psychosocial distress to appropriate service providers.

  • Prevention: Conduct staff and volunteer training on survivor-centered support and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse).

3. Project Coordination & MEAL

  • Field Leadership: Coordinate logistics, manage field-level resources, and ensure compliance with donor guidelines.

  • Data & Reporting: Work with the MEAL team to track disability-inclusive indicators and document success stories for the Program Manager.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in livelihoods programming (humanitarian context preferred).

  • Technical Knowledge: Proven experience working with persons with disabilities and women’s empowerment initiatives.

  • Languages: Fluency in English and Hausa is essential. Knowledge of Babur/Bura is a significant advantage.

  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
