The program focuses on empowering youth and women (ages 18–35) through skills development and market linkages within the poultry value chain.

Role Summary

The State Training Officer (STO) is a field-intensive leadership role responsible for the state-level planning and execution of poultry entrepreneurship training. You will ensure that training is inclusive, safe, and effective for women and marginalized groups, supervising a team of Poultry Enterprise Advisors (PEAs) to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Coordination & Oversight

Planning: Develop state training calendars, cluster schedules, and venue logistics.
Quality Control: Conduct spot-checks to ensure curriculum fidelity and supervise Poultry Enterprise Advisors (PEAs).
Inclusion: Proactively address gender and disability barriers to ensure safe and meaningful participation.

2. Outreach & Gap Assessment

Community Entry: Lead meetings with local leaders and partners (Christian Aid).
Data Consolidation: Analyse field data to identify constraints affecting skills uptake and enterprise viability to inform curriculum customization.

3. Enterprise Support & Market Linkages

Clustering: Facilitate the formation of Youth/Women Enterprise Clusters (5–15 members).
Market Access: Connect clusters with input suppliers, financial services, and aggregators.
Monitoring: Track early-stage performance, including recordkeeping and sales.

4. Performance & Stakeholder Management

Supervision: Review weekly logs and use scorecards to manage PEA performance.
Advocacy: Represent Sahel Consulting in meetings with government agencies (SMEDAN), poultry associations (PAN), and local agricultural departments.
Reporting: Submit weekly progress reports and maintain risk registers.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements:

Education: Minimum OND/HND; B.Sc. in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or Veterinary Medicine preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in training coordination, extension services, or field project management.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Excel and mobile data tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, WhatsApp).
Communication: Fluency in the local language(s) of the designated state is essential.

Desirable Skills:

Experience with donor-funded projects (Mastercard Foundation, INGOs).
Familiarity with Nigerian poultry production systems.
Background in micro-enterprise coaching or value chain interventions.
