The Mission: 2027 General Election Observation

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 General Elections, Yiaga Africa is deploying its Watching The Vote (WTV) project. This initiative utilizes the Process and Results Verification for Transparency (PRVT) methodology—a gold-standard statistical model used to verify official election results independently and enhance public confidence in the democratic process.

Role Summary

The Zonal Program Officer is a critical middle-management role responsible for the operational success of the PRVT model within a specific geopolitical zone. Based in Abuja, you will bridge the gap between national strategy and local execution, managing the human and technical infrastructure required to observe voting, counting, and results transmission.

Key Responsibilities

1. Zonal Operations & Personnel Management

Oversee and manage State Focal Persons, Local Government Area (LGA) Supervisors, and Polling Unit Observers across the assigned zone.
Maintain a comprehensive database of all field personnel to ensure 100% coverage of sampled polling units.

2. Training & Capacity Building

Lead the scheduling and execution of training programs for observers to ensure they understand the PRVT methodology and reporting protocols.
Ensure all field staff are proficient in using the required ICT tools for real-time reporting.

3. Reporting & Data Management

Serve as a Data Manager at the National Data Centre on Election Day.
Contribute to draft reports for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and the final Presidential Election observation report.

4. Logistics & Accreditation

Coordinate the accreditation process with electoral authorities and manage the logistics for the timely deployment of thousands of observers.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Degree in Law, Political Science, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of cognate experience in democracy, governance, or election-related projects.
Technical Knowledge: Prior experience with PRVT or similar statistical election observation models is a significant advantage.
Core Skills: * Advanced IT skills and proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong analytical and report-writing capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage complex logistics under intense pressure.
