1. Freelance Reporters (Regional)

  • Locations: Abuja, Kaduna, Sokoto, Adamawa, and Borno.

  • Key Skills: Exceptional interviewing, investigative research, and storytelling.

  • Technical: Ability to operate field recording equipment and basic media tools.

  • Attributes: High physical stamina for outdoor assignments and strict adherence to journalistic ethics.

2. Digital Journalist

  • Focus: Bridging the gap between traditional radio and online audiences.

  • Responsibilities: Fact-checking, multimedia content creation (audio/video/photos), and social media trend monitoring.

  • Interactivity: Engaging online audiences and managing digital news cycles.

3. Broadcast Engineer

  • Technical Base: Background in Electrical Engineering or RF (Radio Frequency) systems.

  • Experience: Hands-on with FM/AM transmitters, antennas, and live event production.

  • Compliance: Deep knowledge of broadcast health and safety protocols and equipment troubleshooting.

4. Programme Manager

  • Vision: Designing schedules that align with the station’s mission while attracting high listenership.

  • Leadership: Supervising on-air standards, preventing presenter schedule clashes, and driving innovation.

  • Regulation: Must ensure 100% compliance with NBC (National Broadcasting Commission) codes.

5. Radio Station Administrator

  • Operations: Managing daily staff activities, leave rosters, and attendance.

  • Policy: Enforcing station rules, maintaining staff discipline, and handling official correspondence.

  • Ethics: High level of integrity and the ability to resolve staff issues fairly.

6. News Editor and News Caster

  • Editorial: Screening and approving content before it goes live.

  • Bilingual Skills: Ability to translate news accurately from English to Hausa.

  • On-Air: Professional news reading and presentation skills combined with investigative writing.

Core Competency: The NBC Code

For the leadership and editorial roles (Programme Manager, News Editor), a deep understanding of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code is non-negotiable. This involves:

  • Ensuring political balance and neutrality.

  • Upholding public interest and decency standards.

  • Managing advertisement-to-content ratios.
