Role Summary

The Research Officer is a technical role focused on the full lifecycle of health evidence generation. You will support the design of research protocols, manage field data collection, and translate raw data into actionable reports, policy briefs, and manuscripts. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys blending field-based community research with high-level statistical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Design: Assist in developing robust research proposals, ethical protocols, and data collection tools.

• Data Management: Coordinate field activities for both qualitative (interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (surveys) data.

• Analysis: Perform rigorous data cleaning and interpretation to support baseline and endline assessments.

• Knowledge Management: Conduct literature reviews and contribute to the writing of manuscripts for publication and policy briefs for government stakeholders.

• Ethics & Compliance: Ensure all research activities adhere to international standards for human subject protection.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Biostatistics, or a related field.

• Technical Skills: Strong grasp of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and basic data tracking.

• Communication: Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Added Advantage:

• Advanced Degree: Master of Public Health (MPH) or a related postgraduate degree.

• Analysis Tools: Hands-on experience with statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.

• Fieldwork: Previous experience conducting community-based studies or monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities.
