COOPI is hiring 12 Community Mobilizers (3 per state) for their SPRiNG Project focused on climate resilience and peacebuilding. This is a full-time role that serves as the primary link between COOPI and the target communities.

Role Summary

The Community Mobilizer is central to ensuring active and inclusive community participation in activities related to reforestation, agroforestry, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), and peacebuilding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Sensitize and mobilize community members, lead farmers, youth, and women’s associations for all project activities.
  • Structural Support: Support the formation and reactivation of Natural Resource Management (NRM) Committees and the formation of VSLAs.
  • Ecosystem Restoration: Assist in the establishment and management of community nurseries, supervise tree planting, and promote climate-smart agricultural practices.
  • Peacebuilding: Facilitate community-level dialogue platforms between farmers, pastoralists, and traditional leaders to support conflict mitigation and non-violent resolution.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of beneficiaries, submit regular field updates, photos, and support data collection for the MEAL team.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Sociology, Community Development, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement or outreach, preferably with NGOs.
  • Context: Familiarity with rural livelihoods, reforestation, or peacebuilding projects. Experience working in multi-ethnic, conflict-affected contexts is required.
  • Language: Spoken and written fluency in English, Hausa, Mwaghavul, and Berom is essential.
