Job Purpose and Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of staff and consultants and for the complete care and maintenance of the assigned project vehicle.

Primary Duties

Safe Transportation: Provide safe and reliable driving services to programme staff and consultants, ensuring the security of all passengers and equipment.

Vehicle Maintenance: Assume responsibility for the care and maintenance of project vehicles (washing, cleaning, checking oil, brakes, tires, etc.).

Reporting & Repairs: Report any vehicle dysfunction to the Finance & Admin Coordinator and take official vehicles for timely maintenance and repairs, ensuring repairs are done properly.

Documentation: Updates the vehicle log book properly for all journeys (mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc.), and ensure all vehicles have up-to-date documentation (insurance, registration).

Security: Read and understand the Palladium (LAFIYA) Security Standards Operating Procedures and ensure full compliance with all security requirements.

Administrative Support: Support the programme team by providing administrative and clerical support (photocopying, filing, distributing documents) and logistics support during events and meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:

Education: Certificate of Secondary School Education.

License: A valid Driving License and any other documentation required to drive a vehicle in that capacity.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a similar position within any reputable organization (international development sector is an advantage).

Skills:
-
Ability to communicate in English language.

Demonstrable knowledge of Nigerian road networks (with particular emphasis on Northern Nigeria).

Demonstrable knowledge of Nigerian driving codes and regulations.
-
An understanding of the mechanics of vehicles will be advantageous.
-
Knowledge and fluent understanding of the local language will be an added advantage.
