According to the World Health Organization (WHO), KMC is the gold standard for treating preterm and underweight babies, proven to increase neonatal survival rates by as much as 40%. The organization is currently expanding its footprint in Kano State to tackle neonatal mortality.
Role Summary
The organization is seeking experienced and empathetic Nurses to lead KMC implementation within a major hospital in Kano. You will be at the frontline of saving lives by providing specialized care to vulnerable newborns and empowering their mothers with the skills needed to sustain them.

Key Responsibilities

KMC Implementation: Facilitate skin-to-skin contact and support mothers in the practical application of Kangaroo Mother Care.

Clinical Monitoring: Closely monitor the health and vital signs of underweight and preterm babies to ensure stable progress.

Maternal Education: Provide comprehensive counselling to mothers on exclusive breastfeeding, thermal care, and hygiene.

Infection Control: Strictly maintain Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols within the neonatal unit.

Outcome Improvement: Document data and monitor recovery trends to contribute to the organization’s mission of improving neonatal survival in Nigeria.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Registered Nurse (RN) or Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc).

Licensing: Valid license to practice from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Experience: Previous experience in paediatrics, neonatology, or maternal and child health (MCH) is highly desirable.

Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a deep passion for public health and neonatal outcomes.
