Job Opportunity: Baggage Handler – United Nigeria Airlines

United Nigeria Airlines is seeking physically fit and detail-oriented individuals to join their Ground Operations team as Baggage Handlers. This role is essential for ensuring that passenger luggage is handled safely, accurately, and on schedule at the airport.

Role Overview

Position: Baggage Handler
Locations: Kaduna and Jos (Plateau State)
Department: Ground Operations
Reports To: Station Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Luggage Logistics & Sorting

Sorting: Checking luggage against flight lists to ensure every bag is loaded onto the correct aircraft.
Transfer: Moving luggage from check-in areas to departure zones and loading them into aircraft holds using conveyors and baggage trucks.
Reclaim: Ensuring arriving luggage is placed on the correct conveyors in the reclaim area as quickly as possible.

2. Safety & Security

Vigilance: Monitoring for suspicious-looking baggage and reporting anomalies to airport security or police immediately.
Integrity: Recording and reporting any damaged luggage, incorrectly received items, or load discrepancies.
Equipment Care: Safely operating specialist equipment like bar code scanners, cargo loaders, and lifting machinery.

3. Physical Operations

Loading: Ensuring luggage is stored securely in the aircraft hold to maintain balance and safety during flight.
Weather Protection: Protecting luggage from harsh weather conditions during transit across the tarmac.

Requirements & Qualifications

Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in logistics or ground handling.
Physical Fitness: High level of physical strength; ability to lift heavy items repeatedly.
Vision: Must have good vision and normal color vision.
Skills: Strong time management, ability to follow strict safety instructions, and basic mechanical skills to operate machinery.
